ABICOR GROUP groundbreaking ceremony global logistics center

ABICOR GROUP has officially celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony for its new global logistics center at its headquarters in Alten-Buseck, Germany.

ABICOR GROUP has officially celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony for its new global logistics center at its headquarters in Alten-Buseck, Germany. Representing an investment of approximately €20 million, the project is one of the largest investments in the group’s history and an important milestone for its long-term development.

The new logistics center will become a central hub for our global logistics operations. Once completed, it will play a key role in managing worldwide material flows and supporting our customers around the world with efficient, reliable and responsive supply processes. The project therefore directly supports our commitment to customer centricity by helping ensure product availability, optimized lead times and a higher level of service. At the same time, it will strengthen ABICOR GROUP’s global supply chain network and create the capacity needed to support future growth.

Built on approximately 15,000 m², the facility will provide around 4,300 m² of logistics space and office space for approximately 50 employees. Construction is scheduled to begin in the coming months, with commissioning planned for early 2029.

The center will be equipped with advanced logistics technologies designed to increase efficiency, flexibility and process reliability. Planned features include automated storage solutions for small parts and semi-autonomous material handling vehicles operating in narrow-aisle storage areas. These technologies will support our employees in warehouse operations while also enabling us to respond more quickly to customer needs and further strengthen the customer experience worldwide.

The groundbreaking ceremony brought together representatives from management, local government and project partners as well as numerous interested employees. The event was hosted by Emil Schubert, CEO of IBG Group/ABICOR GROUP, who highlighted the strategic importance of the project for the future development of the group and the role of the facility in consolidating global material flows.

In his address, he described the project as a milestone for the future of the group:

“With this new logistics center, we will be able to consolidate material flows on a global scale. By combining state-of-the-art technology with a sustainable building concept, we will optimize processes, improve efficiency and help secure the long-term future of our group.”

The ceremony also featured remarks from Manuel Dressler, CFO of the IBG Group, who highlighted the investment as one of the largest projects in the group’s history and a strong signal of confidence in the future of the group, its employees and the Buseck location.

As the new logistics center will support all companies within the ABICOR GROUP, including ABICOR BINZEL, Thermacut, HERR Industry System, WELDSTONE Components Group, CANTESCO, Photonic Tools and ASTARAS, the project is not only a construction project, but also a transformation project.

A project team from across Europe will be working on the processes that will bring the new facility to life. These cross-functional teams will be developing future logistics workflows, defining interfaces and identifying opportunities to further improve collaboration, efficiency and customer service across the ABICOR GROUP.

With the groundbreaking ceremony completed, construction of ABICOR GROUP’s new logistics center is now underway. Once operational, the facility will further strengthen ABICOR GROUP’s global logistics capabilities and support the customers and group companies around the world for years to come.
